I won!!! I can't believe it! It sounded like something so difficult to do, almost impossible, but here I am!

It certainly wasn't easy--I had to write 7K in the last day to win--but I actually had a lot of fun working on my writing this month, and even though I couldn't finish my original novel (got 33K in and hit a block) it's still a lot more than I've done for one single story in such a short time, ever. The other 17K I wrote for my longfics, which is amazing since I hadn't been working on them a lot these last few months and this gives me both a cushion for updates and the impulse to keep on working on them.

The best part yesterday (the day of the 7K madness) was having to let go of all my narrative doubts and just go with what felt right to write, scenes that amused me, etc. I got many things that surprised me but got me excited all over again about these stories, which is a bonus (even if I'm pretty sure some or many of those words are garbage and will have to be edited out xD)

All in all I had a great first experience and I hope I can do it again next year.

Hey! So, I'm doing NaNo this year. I attempted it a couple of times before (once proper NaNo and once Camp, if I remember right) but it really amounted to little. I did finish writing the draft of a fic that had me suffering for months, but that one ended way before the 50k mark. An the one time I attempted an original, I don't think I managed even 1k.

Actually, that original was like, the vague idea of the story I'm writing this year. And I say vague because damn if it didn't change a whole lot since back then. I think my biggest problem was that I didn't really have anything decided. I had the characters (unnamed, and some didn't have a specified approximate age, even) but I hadn't decided who would be my main characters, or even what my conflict was! It was driving me nuts! So it makes a lot of sense that I barely managed a scene, and not a complete one at that. It felt stilted and awkward and nothing like I imagined it. And so I didn't write anymore, and the story has been percolating in the back of my mind ever since.

Yes, you read that right. I'm not dead. I just can't seem to be able to update any kind of journal in a relatively periodic fashion. Ah, it is what it is. I don't really know what to say, either, so I'm just gonna make a list of things I've worked on since May. Divided by fandom because, uh. Because.

The month is about to end and I'm so happy I joined getyourwordsout! We had a 'Seven Days Seven Stories' challenge last week and it did wonders not only for my wordcount but also for getting lots of new material written, particularly for my two WIPs. I have to edit a lot of it, but still, I wrote around 15k in that week and that's a lot for me.

Hello! It's been a while, huh? Uni's been kicking my ass and I've barely written anything in the last month. Two months, if I'm going to be honest. And then when I did I didn't feel like making a post here *huffs*. But I've made an effort today and I decided why the heck not?

Academically I'm doing well, at least, so that's something. I'm also enjoying learning Mandarin, so that's a plus.

Hello again! How are you? I'm finally over my cold and so much happier for it, ha! This week was a very busy week but very productive in academic matters, at least. My course-load is rather heavy this year but I'm managing somehow... (let's hope it lasts!)

Mandarin learning is going great! I can at least string basic sentences together, so that's... something :P (It's been only three classes of two hours each, so I count that as a big improvement!)

I have a cold and I hate everything. Ugh. I haven't written anything in a week because I've been in an NCIS fic reading mood and writing felt like pulling teeth.

My Chinese learning is going well. Pinyin is so darn useful.

So... hi? It's been a while -- though at least it's still March! I haven't posted anything here because I've not finished anything to post anywhere this month yet. I mean, I've written some but it has mostly been the WSCS rewrite so.

Classes have just started and I'm excited but also tired, haha. It's gonna be a demanding year, but I think I'm gonna enjoy it a lot.

Today I had my first Mandarin class!! It was super interesting -- we are starting with pinyin and I just know that tones will be the death of me. I'm determined to learn, though!!

I've been watching Nirvana in Fire and it's amazing. A funny thing is that even though it's barely 14 episodes longer than Guardian it's taking me way more time to finish. I think it might be because of plot complexity. (I love Guardian so much but the plot is very straight-forward and there's a rather small cast. Nirvana in Fire is a lot more complex and it has so many characters it's a bit overwhelming.) I've watched up to ep 47 and I'm both looking forward and dreading the episodes that are left, even though I know how it ends because I'm a curious woman and I've already read so much fanfiction for this drama that I've had all the spoilers. (Watching the source material is still breathtaking!!)

As for my writing, well, I hope to have something to post before March ends. We'll see.

I should have posted yesterday, but....... I didn't. In any case. It was a good week for my writing (a lot of f/f just in time for femslash February!)

So, apparently my love for Guardian brought about a keen interest to learn some Chinese. So I just enrolled in a course. Ahahaha I don't even know how I'll juggle it with all the Uni courses I have to take this year BUT I WILL.

In other news (?), I just sat for my Linguistics 1 final and I think I did okay? Next week I'll have the results. Yikes. (I just hope I don't have to retake it!)

Fic News post will come after I take a nap and probably after I write something today. Yesterday was a zero day as I was busy revising! :P
